RBI Office-Wise State Language Requirement

  • Each RBI office has specific local language requirements based on the state where it is located
  • Examples: Mumbai (Marathi), Chennai (Tamil), Kolkata (Bengali), Delhi (Hindi), Bengaluru (Kannada), Hyderabad (Telugu/Urdu)
  • Candidates must demonstrate proficiency (spoken and written) in the applicable local language, or clear the LPT

Other Requirements

  • Proficiency in English is also expected as RBI conducts its operations predominantly in English
  • Knowledge of computers (tested in Mains)

Q.Can a candidate apply for RBI Assistant in a city where they don't know the local language?

Technically yes, but they must pass the Language Proficiency Test (LPT) in that city's local language after Mains. Failing LPT leads to disqualification. Apply only for RBI offices where you are genuinely proficient in the local language.

Q.Is there a minimum percentage requirement for RBI Assistant unlike RBI Grade B?

No. RBI Assistant has no minimum percentage requirement. Any graduation degree from a recognized university suffices. This differs from RBI Grade B which requires 60% minimum.
