RRB Group D has a 3-stage selection process: Computer-Based Test (CBT), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and Document Verification with Medical Examination. The CBT determines merit; PET and Medical are qualifying stages.

CBT Marking Scheme
- Correct answer: +1 mark
- Wrong answer: −1/3 mark (negative marking)
- Unattempted: 0 marks
- Exam conducted in multiple shifts; marks normalized across shifts
Stage 2: Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

PET Rules
- PET is qualifying (pass/fail) – no marks added to merit
- Candidates shortlisted for PET: 3 times the post vacancies (category-wise) based on CBT merit
- Pregnant women are exempted from PET (provisionally selected, PET conducted post-delivery)
- Ex-Servicemen are exempted from PET
Stage 3: Document Verification & Medical
- Final selection based on CBT marks (normalized)
- Medical conducted at Railway hospitals – Medical Standard as applicable to the post
