RRB MIC 2026 Syllabus – CBT and Post-Specific Subjects

Railway Recruitment Board10th / 12th / Graduate / Diploma (Post-Wise) medium

The RRB Ministerial & Isolated Categories 2026 syllabus has two components: a general aptitude CBT common to most posts, and a professional/subject-specific section for selected posts. The exam is conducted at different educational levels based on the post.

CBT – General Section (Common to Most Posts)

Professional Knowledge Section (Post-Specific)

Junior Stenographer (English/Hindi)

  • General Awareness, English/Hindi language proficiency
  • Skill Test: Stenography dictation at 80 wpm (English) or 65 wpm (Hindi) with transcription on computer

Junior Translator (Hindi)

  • Hindi language proficiency, Translation theory (Hindi-English/English-Hindi)
  • Hindi grammar (Vyakaran), Passage comprehension, Precise writing
  • General Hindi literature, Rajbhasha policy

Staff & Welfare Inspector

  • Labour laws and welfare legislation
  • Industrial relations, Personnel management principles
  • Railway service conditions and welfare activities

Primary Teacher / TGT / PGT

  • Pedagogy and Teaching Methods
  • Child Development and Psychology
  • Subject-specific content (Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Language, etc. based on the teaching post)
  • CTET/equivalent qualifying exam may be required

Library and Information Assistant

  • Library Science fundamentals, Cataloguing (DDC, Sears), Classification systems
  • Reference services, Information retrieval, Library management

Draughtsman (Civil/Mechanical)

  • Engineering Drawing (Orthographic, Isometric, Sectional views)
  • Civil/Mechanical trade-specific drawing concepts
  • Scales, dimensions, tolerances

Physiotherapist

  • Anatomy & Physiology, Musculoskeletal conditions
  • Electrotherapy, Exercise therapy, Neurological rehabilitation
  • Orthopaedic and Sports Physiotherapy

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.Is the CBT syllabus the same for all RRB MIC posts?

The general aptitude portion (Mathematics, Reasoning, GK, Science) is largely common across posts. However, some posts include an additional professional/technical knowledge section, and a few posts have unique subject-specific tests. Check the official CEN for post-wise syllabus details.

Q.Is a Skill/Typing Test mandatory for all RRB MIC posts?

No. The Typing Test or Shorthand Skill Test applies only to Stenographer and certain Clerk/Translation posts. Other posts like Physiotherapist, Teacher, or Draughtsman have no typing or skill test.

Q.What level is the General Science syllabus tested at?

General Science is tested at Class 10 (Matriculation) level. NCERT textbooks for Classes 9 and 10 cover the required Physics, Chemistry, and Biology content comprehensively.
