Educational Qualification
- Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognized university
- Proficiency in the official language of the state applied for is mandatory (reading, writing, speaking)
- Knowledge of computers desirable (tested in Mains)

State-Wise Local Language Requirement
- Candidates must apply for vacancies in a state where they are proficient in the local language
- Proficiency proven by: Matriculation/graduation with local language as a subject, OR by qualifying the LPT conducted post-Mains
- Common state languages tested: Hindi (UP, Bihar, MP, Rajasthan), Tamil (Tamil Nadu), Telugu (Andhra, Telangana), Kannada (Karnataka), Marathi (Maharashtra), Bengali (West Bengal), Gujarati (Gujarat), and others
