The IBPS RRB OA selection process has two CBT stages followed by provisional allotment. Since there is no interview, Mains performance entirely determines posting. The complete process from notification to joining takes approximately 8–10 months.
Stage-by-Stage Selection
- Stage 1 – Prelims CBT: 80 marks, 45 minutes. Qualifying stage. Shortlists candidates for Mains based on category-wise cutoffs.
- Stage 2 – Mains CBT: 200 marks, 120 minutes. Merit-determining. 5 sections with individual time limits. Final allotment merit is based on Mains scores.
- Language Proficiency Test (LPT) – if required: Qualifying in nature. Candidates who have not passed local language at matriculation/graduation level may be subjected to LPT. Failing LPT disqualifies from allotment.
- Provisional Allotment: Based on Mains merit, vacancies, and RRB/state preference indicated during application. IBPS publishes the provisional allotment list on ibps.in.
- Pre-Joining Formalities: Medical examination and document verification at the allotted RRB before joining.
