RBI Grade B requires the deepest preparation of any Indian banking examination. The 6-month plan below prioritizes Economics/Finance (Phase II high-value sections) while maintaining Phase I aptitude fitness.
Phase A: Economics & Finance Foundation (Month 1–2)
- Indian Economy (ESI): Complete Ramesh Singh – Growth, Inflation, Monetary Policy, Fiscal Policy, External Sector, Agriculture, Industry. 2 chapters per day.
- Finance & Management: Study Financial System (RBI structure, banking regulation), SEBI, capital markets, insurance regulation (IRDAI). 1 hour daily.
- Phase I Aptitude: 1.5 hours daily – Reasoning (Puzzles) and QA (Arithmetic + basic DI).
- English Writing: Write 1 essay weekly from Day 1. Topics: monetary policy, financial inclusion, economic growth.
Phase B: Current Affairs + Phase II Depth (Month 3–4)
- Read Economic Survey + RBI Annual Report fully. Make concept notes.
- Finance & Management depth: Study Management theory (Leadership, HR, Strategy, Ethics) – L.M. Prasad + 1 hour daily.
- Phase I mocks: 2 mocks per week. Target 120+ out of 200.
- English Descriptive: Write 2 essays + 1 précis per week. Get feedback on structure and content quality.
Phase C: Phase II Mocks + Interview Prep (Month 5–6)
- Take 2 full Phase II mock tests per week (all 3 papers). Analyse descriptive answers critically.
- Interview preparation: 20 mock interview Q&A on RBI history, monetary policy tools, recent RBI decisions, and your academic background.
- Current Affairs: Update to the current month. Focus on RBI policy announcements, government schemes, global economic developments.
