UPSC CMS 2026 eligibility requires an MBBS degree from a recognized institution. The age limit is higher than most UPSC exams (up to 32 for General), acknowledging the longer duration of medical education.
Nationality
Candidates must be a citizen of India. Subjects of Nepal/Bhutan and persons of Indian origin from specified countries with intent to settle in India are also eligible subject to government clearance.

Additional Eligibility Conditions
- Minimum age: No minimum age prescribed (unlike defence exams); effectively linked to MBBS completion age
- Age is calculated as on 1st January of the exam year
- Candidates with MD/MS/DNB degrees holding MBBS as base qualification are also eligible
- Candidates registered with a State Medical Council under the Indian Medical Degrees Act are eligible
