RRB JE 2026 Preparation Strategy – 4-Month Study Plan

RRB JE preparation requires mastering both general aptitude (CBT 1) and branch-specific engineering (CBT 2). Since CBT 2 technical paper carries 120 of 150 marks, engineering subject preparation is the primary investment.

Phase 1: CBT 2 Core Technical Foundation (Month 1–2)

• Civil candidates: Structural Analysis (beams, trusses), RCC basics (singly reinforced beams), Soil Mechanics (shear strength, consolidation), Fluid Mechanics (Bernoulli's equation, pipe flow). 3–4 hours technical daily.
• Electrical candidates: DC/AC circuits (Kirchhoff's Laws, resonance), Transformers (all parameters), Induction Motor (slip, torque), Power Systems (transmission, protection basics). 3–4 hours technical daily.
• Mechanical candidates: Thermodynamics (all laws, cycles), Fluid Mechanics (hydraulic machines), Strength of Materials (bending, torsion), Theory of Machines (gear trains, governors). 3–4 hours technical daily.
• CBT 1 parallel: 1 hour daily – Maths (arithmetic) + Reasoning basics.

Phase 2: Complete Technical Syllabus + CBT 1 (Month 2–3)

• Complete remaining CBT 2 technical chapters: Highway, Surveying (Civil); Control Systems, Measurements (Electrical); Manufacturing, Heat Transfer (Mechanical).
• CBT 1 intensive: Complete R.S. Aggarwal Reasoning and Maths, NCERT Science. 2 CBT 1 mock tests per week. Target 70+/100.
• Start solving RRB JE PYQ technical questions topic-wise to understand GATE-vs-RRB-JE difficulty gap.

Phase 3: Full Mock Tests + Revision (Month 4)

• 2 full CBT 2 mock tests per week (150 marks, 120 minutes). Target: 100+ out of 150 consistently for competitive score.
• Technical revision: Focus on numericals and derivation-based questions (typically 40% of technical paper).
• GA + Current Affairs: Cover last 6 months daily (30 minutes).
