CDS preparation requires a dual focus: written exam (4–5 months) and continuous personality and physical development for SSB. Since CDS is biannual, candidates have two attempts per year within their eligible age window.
Phase 1: Static Foundation (Month 1)
- GK Static: Complete Lucent GK (History, Geography, Polity, Science). One chapter per day. Make 1-page notes per chapter.
- English: Complete S.P. Bakshi grammar sections. Build vocabulary: 15 words/day from Norman Lewis.
- Maths (IMA/INA/AFA): Revise NCERT Class 9–10 thoroughly. Arithmetic focus: Percentages, Ratio, Time-Work, SI/CI.
- Physical Fitness: Start 2-km daily run, increase by 0.5 km/week. Add pull-ups and push-ups to daily routine.
Phase 2: Practice + Current Affairs (Month 2–3)
- GK Current Affairs: Cover 12 months of defence, science, international events, government schemes. Manorama Yearbook + PIB.
- English: 2 comprehension passages daily. Sentence correction and Para Jumbles practice.
- Maths: Trigonometry, Geometry, Mensuration from R.S. Aggarwal. 20 questions/day.
- Mock Tests: Take 2 full CDS mock tests per week. Analyse every wrong answer rigorously.
Phase 3: Final Revision + SSB Prep (Month 4)
- Three complete revisions of all GK static notes using short summaries
- Solve all available CDS PYQs (2015–2024) in timed conditions
- Update current affairs to the current month
- Physical target: 5-km run under 25 minutes, 15 pull-ups, 30 push-ups daily
- SSB prep: Practice story writing (TAT), WAT word associations (30 words in 15 minutes), Group Discussion on current affairs topics
